Mohawk Carpet Foundation

INTRODUCTION

In 1990, the Company established the Mohawk Carpet Foundation as the organization's primary conduit for its philanthropic efforts. Since that time, the Foundation has provided grants to hundreds of non-profit organizations in communities where the Company operates manufacturing facilities and has grown to become one of the largest corporate foundations headquartered in Georgia. The Foundation is currently chaired by Robert Webb, who has been with Mohawk for three decades and has received local, state and regional recognition for his work with corporate philanthropy, non-profit leadership and community building.

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS

These efforts improve quality of life by supporting local amenities, ongoing programming and unique initiatives that foster long-term development. The Foundation also provides corporate gifts to United Way chapters that complement the generosity of the Company's employees. Together, employees and the Foundation donated $2.1 million with United Way for 2021 highlighted by 50 percent employee participation.

PHILOSOPHY

The Foundation’s philanthropy is based on simple principles: partner with proven, ethical and reliable organizations that deliver results; focus on realistic efforts to solve key challenges; and seek feedback from the community to assess the impact of projects and services.

The Company prides itself on being a meaningful partner in the success of communities where it operates. Beyond monetary grants, the management team contributes expertise and leadership to help develop local communities, and thousands of employees volunteer their time and talents.

GRANT CYCLES

Each autumn, the Foundation distributes grant applications to eligible non-profit organizations including past recipients and charities requesting support for the first time.

Applications are carefully reviewed and funding is aligned with the Foundation's yearly budget. Decisions on funding are shared with applicants before the end of the year, and grants are mailed the following year.

The grant program has become increasingly competitive as the number of organizations submitting applications has steadily risen. Due to budget restrictions, completing an application does not guarantee a grant.
